Definīcija:A quasi-autonomous body similar in function to a company but set up by the State to run either public services such as the BBC or an industry which is in the hands of the State either by tradition, such as the Post Office, or by the process of nationalization, such as British Coal. Although the ultimate control of a public corporation rests with the minister responsible for the relevant department of government, the day-to-day management of the corporation is delegated to ministerial appointees who, subject to the broad policy lines established by the State, are expected to run its affairs in a manner beneficial to the public which it is intended to serve.
