Definīcija:The New Approach directives prescribe specific measures of mandatory evaluation of conformity, always including a declaration of conformity, for specific products ("the modules"). Some of these measures include mandatory certification. In these cases the design and/or production of the products has to be certified by one of those organizations responsible for carrying out the mandatory certification (Notified Bodies) in advance of the products being put on the market. The CE marking has to be applied by manufacturers or their authorized representatives to products subject to New Approach directives whether there is mandatory certification or not. Where there is a requirement for mandatory certification, a Notified Body must perform the statutory function specified in the relevant directive before the CE marking can be applied. Where the product, but not the certification, is regulated, the manufacturer applies the CE marking and declares conformity without the need for intervention by any third party.
