Definīcija:A class of chemical compounds commonly used as solvents, aerosol propellants, refrigerants, and in foam production. The gases are chemically inert, but after release and entry into the stratosphere, where absorption of short-wave radiation takes place, each chlorofluorocarbon molecule decomposes with the release of the radical atomic chlorine which cannot exist independently and thus attacks ozone (O3) through catalytic chain reactions which lead to ozone depletion.
